Jerry's Sports has donated more than $20,000 in gear to GetGear.org!! And, they are now a gear donation drop-off location. Jerry's Sports is a family owned and operated sports and “active lifestyle” equipment store providing great customer service to Santa Cruz county since the late 70’s. They are located at 1148 Soquel Avenue, Santa Cruz, CA. Donate your used sports gear at Jerry's, then buy some new outdoor, football, soccer or baseball gear for yourself or for your family!

 

 

Richard Evans, CEO of iWMS Supply Chain Software, coordinated and delivered a soccer uniform donation from GetGear.org to Inkanyezi Waldorf School in Alexandra township, Johannesburg. Steve and Sona Dennis of Carmel, California carried the gear with them on their trip to Africa. Thanks, Rick, for being our man on the street in South Africa! 

 

 

The Holmes family The Holmes family of Lakeport, California travelled to the Galapagos islands in Ecuador and delivered soccer gear to a local school. The school is on Isla Floreana, one of the smaller islands with little tourism and, as such, little income.

 

 

 

 

 

Tri-Cities Little League in the Silicon Valley recently donated a large volume of baseball gear that is now being put to great use at the San Francisco Boys & Girls Clubs and in a league program in rural Nicaragua. Thanks Tri-Cities!
 
 
Heidi Romswinckel-Guise is an outstanding coach for the Santa Cruz Country Breakers 99 Girls and the San Lorenzo Valley High School Girls Varsity soccer team. She is a former captain for San Jose State University. Her recent donation of uniforms made its way to Belize to outfit two full teams of players. Thank a ton, Heidi!

Jordyn's mom, Stephanie, and a Microsoft employee, Joe Martin, coordinated the gear delivery. Thanks to this great team of donors in the Seattle area for their generous assistance!
 
The Central Santa Clara Valley Youth Soccer League held an opening day celebration event on September 12, 2010. Jenny Paquette, a mother with a daughter in the league, coordinated a very succesful gear drive. Great job and thanks a ton! 
 
 
Rev. Ron Lomax of the First Baptist Church in O'Fallon, Missouri delivered a shipment of soccer and basketball gear to the Linge Primary School, grades 1st through 8th in Nyanga township in Cape Town, South Africa. Pictured is a Mike, a teacher for the school. Thank you, Ron!
 
 
 
 
 
The Friedman/Supplee family of Santa Cruz, California hand carried soccer equipment on their Costa Rican vacation and delivered it to Escuela El Castillo, a school in El Castillo, Costa Rica. Their children got to play soccer with the local kids and good times were had by all. Thanks for your generosity!
 
 
 
 
 
The Rotary Club of Capitola-Aptos has chosen GetGear.org as one of the recipients of their 2010 grant awards. This new funding will enable us to pay for a storage unit for our large inventory of gear. The Rotary is a fabulous service organization with chapters around the world. GetGear.org is proud to be associated with the Rotarians!
 
 
 
 
 
Suzanne Yost of Alain Pinel Realtors in Los Gatos, California provided a generous donation to GetGear.org that will enable us to fund efforts to ship gear abroad. Suzanne is a fabulous real estate agent and lawyer and an outstanding agent of community service, as well.
 
 
 
 
 
Attendees of the Breakers Cup 2010 in Santa Cruz, California on July 31 and August 1 donated soccer equipment at bins at each site. Thank you to the Santa Cruz Breakers for supporting GetGear.org's program two years in a row!
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The Michigan Bucks is storied and successful soccer club. They are the minor league affiliate of the Columbus Crew Major League Soccer team. Since 1999, they have had 29 players drafted into the MLS and others into leagues around the world. GetGear.org is proud to be partnered with the Bucks to collect gear at their games. Visit the GetGear.org booth, drop off an item and collect a ticket that will get you a discount on the ticket for the opening night's game.
 
 
 
 
 
Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac, Michigan is is now taking sports equipment donations in new or gently used condition on behalf of GetGear.org. All items can be donated through the front desk and must be bagged or boxed. They will also be donating their lost & found items on April 30, 2010. Please call (248) 648-7000 for more details.
  
GetGear.org has partnered with Master Sports to promote their outstanding sports camps for kids in San Diego. We are collected gear at their Spring camps in Carmel Valley and Scripps Ranch in April 2010.
 
 
 
 

 

GetGear.org has partnered with the San Diego Boca Futbol Club to collect gear at their first and second games on Sunday, March 28 at 3:45 pm and on Sunday, April 4 at 5:30 pm at the Helix High Soccer Stadium. San Diego Boca was founded in 2009 to promote and develop youth and professional soccer in San Diego County and across the United States. Come out and watch outstanding soccer and bring your gear donation! Anyone who donates gear will get a Boca merchandise voucher for discounted Boca team gear and/or tickets that they can purchase at our upcoming games or team store.

  

 
GetGear.org recently partnered with the San Diego Sockers to collect gear at the PASL Playoff Games in Del Mar, CA on Saturday, March 13, 2010. The Sockers won the PASL Championship game and GetGear.org made many connections with local soccer clubs.  
  
 
 
 
 
Ashley Falls Elementary School in Del Mar, California sponsored a gear drive Wednesday, March 3rd through Friday, March 5th, 2010. And, San Diego Sockers players visited the school each day to sign autographs to support GetGear.org. The gear drive yielded quite a haul with 12 large boxes of gear representing sports of all kinds. Thanks Ashley Falls Eagles! And, thanks to GetGear.org Board Member Penny Bolden and her lovely family for coordinating all the amazing San Diego events in March!
 

 

 
 
EDCO is a Family Owned & Locally Operated waste collection and recycling company, serving numerous communities in Southern California since 1967. EDCO generously donated 24 collection bins for GetGear.org to use in upcoming gear drives at San Diego schools and at the PASL playoff games sponsored by the San Diego Sockers. Thank you EDCO!
 
 
 
 
Brook Knoll Elementary School in Scotts Valley, California sponsored a school-wide gear drive durng a single week in November 2009. More than 600 students collected truckloads of gear, some of which was donated immediately to programs in need in Mexico, California and Guatemala. Special thanks to Linda Rugg's 4th & 5th grade combo class for organizing the drive, promoting it with a self-produced musical performance, collecting the gear each day and motivating students to participate. Brook Knoll has collected more gear than any other program to date! Watch a video of the sponsoring class's adaption of "Put a Little Love in Your Heart" at the school-wide assembly! 
 
The Loomis Basin Charter School in Loomis, California sponsored a school-wide gear and fundraising drive in January 2010. More than 175 students collected a tremendous amount of baseball, soccer and other sports gear. They also collected more than $235 at their popcorn sale. Special thanks to parents Amanda Merz and Barbie Webb for organizing the drive and coordinating deliveries. The gear will be heading to programs in need in Mexico, California and Africa. Ashley Edgar, soccer coach extradordinare in Santa Cruz County provided 6 team sets of soccer jerseys to GetGear.org. These will be used to support a program in Oakland, California and for other programs in need. Thanks for your generosity, Ashley!

 

 

 

 

 

 
The Breakers are the premier soccer club in Santa Cruz County. The club worked to promote GetGear.org to thousands of attendees to the Breakers Cup 2009 Soccer Tournament and placed donation boxes at all six tournament sites around Santa Cruz County.

Merced Youth Soccer Association worked with GetGear.org to promote a gear drive at a soccer tournament in 2009. They collected a number of high quality items for delivery to programs in need. Soccer Saves is committed to helping create healthy lifestyles for disadvantaged youth by partnering with global humanitarian organizations that work to provide HIV/AIDS education, nutrition, gender equity and reproductive health using the power of soccer. Soccer Saves helps GetGear.org identify programs in need of equipment.

 

The first program connection is with the Mathare Youth Sports Association in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. MYSA serves over 20,000 kids in need. Players earn additional points in the league standings by doing community service in their neighborhoods.As many as 10 teams share ONE set of uniforms each season. Help us reach our goal of collecting 18,000 soccer jerseys to outfit the more than 1500 teams in the MYSA league! Contact us now for information on donating your team's or club's soccer jerseys.
